Shilpa Shinde and Romit Raj were once on the brink of marriage, but their engagement was unexpectedly called off before they could wed. Despite both moving on and thriving in their personal and professional lives, their 2007 romance has recently resurfaced in the media.

Their love story began in 2007 on the sets of their television show, Maayka. Reports indicate that by 2009, the couple was engaged, and wedding preparations were in full swing. However, Shinde had a change of heart, leading to the engagement being abruptly canceled.

In an interview with ETimes TV, Shilpa Shinde shared her reasons for ending the engagement. She revealed that she felt too young for marriage at the time and, despite pressure from her parents and relatives, she remained firm in her decision. Shinde also mentioned during her time on Bigg Boss 11 that Romit’s family had become overly demanding, which likely influenced her decision to call off the engagement.

India Forums contacted Romit Raj for his take on the matter. Romit remarked, “It’s been 15 years, and since then, we haven’t seen each other. I can only say that whatever happened was for the best.”

Shilpa, recently eliminated from the reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi 14, previously gained widespread recognition as the winner of Bigg Boss 11. During her stint on Bigg Boss, she garnered significant fan support but also faced controversies involving Vikas Gupta and Hina Khan. Meanwhile, Romit has made a name for himself with his role as Rohit Poddar on Star Plus’s popular series Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, having taken over the role from Shivam Khajuria.
