Ranvir Shorey and Kay Kay Menon are currently sharing the screen in the newly released web series Shekhar Home. In a recent conversation, Kay Kay Menon opened up about the challenges faced by Ranvir in the entertainment industry, particularly in securing acting opportunities. The Farzi actor also provided insights into the broader struggles that actors encounter in the competitive world of entertainment, especially with the emergence of OTT platforms.

During an interview with News 18 Showsha, Kay Kay Menon candidly admitted that he hasn’t had time to watch Bigg Boss and, therefore, didn’t see Ranvir’s stint on the show. He mentioned that they had spent ample time together before Ranvir joined Bigg Boss OTT, so he felt no need to watch the reality show to gauge his friend’s authenticity. “I know him too well,” Kay Kay added, implying his deep understanding of Ranvir’s character.

For those who may not be aware, Ranvir Shorey has openly discussed the lack of significant acting projects and the scarcity of opportunities he has faced in the industry. The Tiger 3 actor shared that his decision to participate in Bigg Boss OTT 3 stemmed from the difficult phase he was experiencing in his career.

Reflecting on his own journey, Kay Kay Menon spoke about the struggles he faced, particularly before the rise of OTT platforms. The Railway Men actor recalled how, in the pre-pandemic era, good offers were hard to come by, and the scope for actors like him in cinema had significantly diminished. He remarked, “This was before the OTT boom. It had to do with the fact that in cinema and the films that we see in theaters, the scope for people and actors like us had reduced.”

Kay Kay also discussed the transformation the entertainment industry has undergone with the popularity of OTT platforms, noting that it has provided a much-needed space for versatile actors. He praised himself and Manoj Bajpayee for their persistence, despite the limited opportunities. The Bambai Meri Jaan actor pointed out that they had no choice but to take on villainous roles or other parts with reduced scope. Referring to both himself and Manoj as “obstinate,” he commented, “There were perhaps actors more talented than us who fell by the wayside because they didn’t have the tenacity to hold on.”

In a viral clip from Bigg Boss OTT 3, Ranvir Shorey made a candid remark about his career, responding to a question from fellow contestant Shivani Kumari. She asked about his recent work, to which Ranvir replied, “Abhi kaam achcha chal raha hota toh yahaan toh nahin hote. (If I had work, I wouldn’t have been inside the Bigg Boss house.)”

Kay Kay Menon’s reflections highlight the struggles that even seasoned actors like Ranvir Shorey face in an industry that can be unpredictable and unforgiving. The rise of OTT platforms, however, offers hope and new avenues for actors to showcase their talents and continue their careers with renewed vigor.
