Scene 1

In Rajwar’s palace, Bai calls Bauji to come and do pooja. Bauji’s wife Savitri is angry at her for calling him when he is ill. Bai taunts her that she had a lavish life in this palace because of servants like her. She tells her Bauji that she took care of all troubles in this palace, she made sure everyone here lives a comfortable life. Bauji says Pani Bai is right, when that incident happened with Durga’s father and everyone was against us then Bai’s suggestions made us come out of that. Savitri says I am tired of hearing this, she entered this palace to bring water here and never left, she has been here for years now. Bai says I have something that made me stay in this palace. Savitri says you are talking like you did magic on palace people. Bai says its motherly’s love, I gave love to kids of this palace, I did everything for them. Bauji’s children come there and they thank Bai, a son says we can never forget what you have done for us. Another son says we are thankful and indebted to you. He asks why isn’t she coming to their festival? Bauji says all family members are going to celebrate so don’t say no. Bai says its not my age to celebrate. A DIL says you can at least be with the family. Savitri says if she doesn’t want to come then let her be. She scolds her DIL to be silent. You do know that only married women can do this pooja so she can’t go with us. We are going to fast for our husbands so who will she fast for? she might try to own this palace and kids but the truth is that they are my kids only. Bauji asks where are the kids?

Two kids are playing, Durga falls down and gets hurt. Her playmate Anurag cleans up her wound.

Bai tells the family that Anurag is part of this family’s blood but Durga is from the village, when the time comes then we will tell her of the status difference. She turns around and thinks she is going to use Durga to reduce this difference, she knows the importance of status and will make sure to get it.

Scene 2

The palace starts their procession for the festival. The family sits in the car and greets villagers. Anurag’s mother is looking for Durga and Anurag. Indira says you should keep them separate as Durga is of low class. Anurag’s mother says Durga was so small when she came to us, we are going to give her education and make her independent.

Anurag plays flute in the festival while Durga dances around him. All clap for them.

Rajwar family arrives at the mandir and does pooja together.

Bai does pooja alone and thinks she gave up everything for this palace, Bauji never gave her any place but she still kept a fast for him today. I have protected this family always but you know the truth.

Anurag and Durga are playing with villagers when some goons arrive there. A woman tells Anurag to complain to his father about them. The goon taunts Anurag not to play with servants like Durga, he says she is not a servant, she is my friend. The goon threatens the villagers and takes her earnings. Anurag says I will complain to my father. The goon says I can put you in place right now. Durga says when I grow up then I will teach you a lesson. The goon insults her but Anurag says enough. The goon leaves. Anurag and Durga go to play on the swings. Anurag makes Durga sit on the swing and writes her name on the tree. She says I will write your name here when I get education.
