When some couples part ways, they choose to sever all ties, but others decide to remain close, nurturing a friendship instead of their former romantic relationship. Charu Asopa appears to belong to the latter group.
Recently, Charu was spotted traveling with her ex-husband Rajeev Sen and their daughter Ziana, sparking curiosity among fans about the current state of their relationship. To address the speculation, Charu has now revealed that she and Rajeev have put their past behind them for the sake of their daughter.
In an interview with Times of India, Charu Asopa shared that the bitterness between her and Rajeev has been resolved, and they have transitioned into a friendship. Speaking about their relationship, she said, “Hum puraani baaton ko bhool kar Ziana ke liye aagey badh rahe hain,” meaning, “We have forgotten old matters and are moving forward for Ziana’s sake.”
The Devon Ke Dev…Mahadev actress further explained, “Rajeev and I mutually agreed to our divorce, and he always had access to Ziana. Although it was difficult for me initially, we realized that we needed to be on better terms for our daughter’s sake. After maintaining a cordial relationship, we have now become friends—for her. That’s all there is to it.”
Charu and Rajeev’s daughter, Ziana, is just two-and-a-half years old. The couple made headlines due to their divorce, which was finalized in June last year. Charu also mentioned that she can’t control the public’s opinions about her relationship with Rajeev, particularly on social media. “Nowadays, anyone with a phone can leave a comment, but I don’t let that bother me,” she added.
As a mother, Charu feels strongly about doing what’s best for her daughter, Ziana, and is willing to go to any length to ensure her well-being. She acknowledged that people have opinions about everything. “If I let my daughter meet Rajeev, people will say, ‘Yeh muh utha kar phir chali gayi Rajeev ke paas’ (She has gone back to Rajeev again), and if I don’t, they’ll accuse me of depriving her of her father’s love,” she said with a hint of frustration.
Charu also revealed that Ziana is too young to travel without her, which is why she accompanied them. However, once Ziana is older, she will have the freedom to make her own decisions. When asked about her feelings regarding Rajeev moving on with his life, Charu firmly stated that she has no issues with it and wishes him well.
