Bigg Boss winners Elvish Yadav and Munawar Faruqui, who were participating in the much-anticipated ECL 2024 cricket match, found themselves in the middle of a disturbing situation when they received death threats during the game. What started as a day of fun and light-hearted sports took a dark turn, prompting swift police action and a temporary halt to the match. The game, which took place at the IG Indoor Stadium in Delhi, saw Elvish leading his team, the Haryanvi Hunters (HH), against Munawar’s Mumbai Disruptors (MD).
The alarming incident was first brought to light by Bigg Boss 13 alumna Shefali Bagga, who was present at the event. In an exclusive interview with Times Now India, Shefali detailed the series of events that unfolded. She recalled how the atmosphere was initially buzzing with excitement as fans cheered on their favorite stars. However, as the match progressed, the situation abruptly changed when the threats emerged.
According to Shefali, the first few overs of the game proceeded as expected, with the crowd enjoying the friendly competition. However, the mood quickly shifted when word of the threats spread through the stadium, causing a ripple of concern among the spectators and players alike.
Shefali further explained that, despite the earlier excitement, the police acted swiftly upon receiving the death threats aimed at both Elvish and Munawar. Security measures were immediately tightened, and the stadium was evacuated for the safety of everyone present. The police implemented a thorough search of the premises with the help of sniffer dogs to ensure there was no further danger.
When asked if the threats originated from the stands, Shefali was quick to clarify: “No, that is not true. Both Elvish and Munawar have a massive fan base, and the crowd was cheering for them. The threats didn’t come from the spectators.” She also mentioned that no interrogations took place on the spot, as the primary focus was on safely escorting the players and clearing the stadium.
Despite the harrowing experience, both Elvish and Munawar maintained their composure and resumed the match after the authorities deemed it safe. However, the unsettling nature of the incident has left a lasting impact on everyone involved. Shefali expressed her relief that the authorities acted swiftly, saying, “It could have gone really wrong if the cops hadn’t acted fast, but thankfully, they were on top of things. Elvish and Munawar didn’t deserve this.”
As of now, the investigation into the threats is ongoing, with authorities working to trace their source. To ensure Munawar’s safety, he has been moved to Mumbai, as the change in location is seen as a precautionary measure to reduce the risk of further threats. While the ECL management and Munawar have not yet released official statements, fans are eagerly awaiting updates on the situation.
Both stars remain undeterred by the incident and continue to receive overwhelming support from their fanbase, who hope such a scenario never repeats itself.
